Katy Perry Halftime Show

WHAT DID YOU MISS IN 2015?

The NFL owners had originally voted to host the 2015 Super Bowl at the Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas on the proviso that Jackson County two sales taxes were passed in Jackson County that would allow improvements to the stadium to be made, including a retractable roof. Unfortunately, the taxes were not successfully passed and the deal fell through.
Three cities participated in the bid to host the 2015 Super Bowl in place of Kansas:

• Tampa, Florida (Raymond James Stadium)
• Miami Gardens, Florida (Sun Life Stadium)
• Glendale, Arizona (University of Phoenix Stadium)

Tampa and Miami had lost out on a chance to hold the 2014 Super Bowl but, yet again, Miami Garden’s bid was ruled out at an early stage, and Tampa and Glendale went through to the final round. On October 11, 2011, the NFL announced that the 2015 Super Bowl had been awarded to Glendale and the University of Phoenix.

The 2015 Super Bowl was played on February 1, 2015, between AFL champions the New England Patriots and the NFL champions the Seattle Seahawks.
Like many Super Bowl games before it, the 2015 Super Bowl was characterized by a series of unexpected twists, with every quarter delivering something quite unexpected.

The teams found themselves tied 14-14 at halftime, but the Seahawks took hold of the game in the third quarter to build a 10-point lead. The Patriots, however, were not going to take that lying down and they rallied to build themselves a 28-24 lead with just two minutes remaining on the clock. Seattle were on the verge of an impressive victory in the final moments of the game when they drove the ball toward the Patriots’ 1-yard line, only for the Malcolm Butler, an undrafted rookie, to make an amazing interception of a throw by Russell Wilson to save the game and bring the crowd to their feet.

Tom Brady of the New England Patriots was named the most valuable player.

The game attracted viewing figures of 114.4 million viewers.
